Team Madigan Open Cyclo Cross 26th October 2008 at Kilroot near Carrickfergus Co. Antrim.
Mark Allen from the Swords Cycling Club near Dublin won the Team Madigan Open Cyclo Cross race at a wet and windy Carrickfergus. Bitter cold winds swept across the Farmland course at Kilroot, and the hilly circuit soon cut up after a week of heavy rain had made the going very soft. However the hardy riders were not put off! They pushed on regardless to make it a good race.
It was Banbridge CC junior rider Liam McGreevy who finished in a well deserved second place and Veteran Aiden McDonald (Apollo) rode strongly throughout the 1 hour 15 minute race and took third place. The hot soup and sandwiches went down a treat to warm everyone up after the racing was over, and boy was it needed.
Team Madigan wish to thank all those people who helped in any way with the event, including Land owner Nigel Dobbs and Carrickfergus Borough Council for sponsoring the race. Also many thanks to all the riders and Official's.
