Club, 20-mile handicap road race, Glenoe,  Wednesday 18th April 2007. (1)

Well done Jonathan you still have the old sprint!  Group 2 worked really hard once they caught the strong under 16 group.  The young men then dug in along with the large 2nd group.  All in G2 worked hard and managed to hold of the equally hard working scratch men.  The gap between the two groups remained the same for all of the race at around 1-minute and it was only on the last 2 laps that the scratch men clawed back some time, but by this time it was all too late!  Big Simon had a few attempts to try and solo across the gap, but even the big power house T.T. man had to call it a day and conceded to group 2 on the night.  Well done everyone! you all tried very hard! 

Club, 18-mile Handicap Pursuit, Kilroot, Wednesday 25th April 07. (1).

A great result David!  All the young lads rode very strong - keep up the good training!  As the pursuits go on the handicapping will become more refined, so those who were handicapped out of it a bit will fair better the next time round!  But never the less it is a very worthwhile event that makes us all work hard to gain extra fitness!  Steven wanted more hills so he took-on the Bellahill as an extra and not to be out-done Gavin had his rear wheel pushed hard over to rub the chain stay just to get a harder work out!  Now that is dedication! ( Only slaggin )!

Club, 10-mile Hilly Circuit Time Trial, Brown's Bay, Wednesday 2nd May 2007.  (2).

What  great  weather!  Big Simon's testing of the course and bikes pays off, well done ye boy ye!  Super Vet Mel still able to produce the goods as he takes second spot and 1st Vet.  Jonny Kyle must be getting in some good training! and Gary McKeegan is starting to show a bit of form, as is Jonny Wilson!  All good stuff!  The course seemed to go down well with most of the riders!  Lets hear it for the Marshals - it was a super turn-out, well done and very many thanks!!!!  Thanks to Ronnie for time keeping!

Club, 22-mile Handicap Road Race, Ballycarry, Wednesday 9th May 2007.  (2).

What terrible weather!  The rain only starts when we are about to race and it clears when the race is over!  You are brave people keeping going in those conditions!  And what about the Tornado - we were lucky to escape that!  Well, the conditions did not stop big Simon.  He powered away on his own on the second of three laps and was never seen again by the chasing groups.  Jonny Cole rode a blinder also after his brilliant performance last weekend in the Newmarket 3-day in Cork where he placed 7th overall and won a stage! This was good enough for him to be selected for the Ulster youth team that will race in Belgium this weekend.  Well done Jonny and well done to the other Madigan lads Mark, David and Richard who all placed in the top 20, keep up the good work and your turn in Belgium should come too! 

Well, I hope you have all dried out folks! Well done each of you!  

Club 25-mile Time Trial, A26 Antrim course, Wednesday 23 May 2007.  

Club, 15-mile handicap Road Race, Brown's Bay, Wednesday 30th May 2007.

Well done everyone!  it was a good wee race.  The light weights came to the fore on the climbs and the big guys were catching up on the downhill's.  Ronnie thinks another lap is required if we use the course next year, going by the winning time of 46-minutes I think he's right?  Anyhow that's one for a club meeting to decide!  Thanks to the riders, the Marshals, and Judges Ronnie and Averil.  Vince's photos can be viewed in the Photo Album!

Club, 18-mile Handicap Pursuit, Kilroot, Wednesday 6th June 2007.

Good racing tonight lads!  Bad luck Jonny Cole, a brave attacking move that nearly came off were it not for the restricted gears on the down hill finish.  But what about scratch man big Simon! when he throws it in the big gears it's a line-out job!  Gary McDermott said ' I was on Simon's wheel going down the Beltoy at 46mph and went to go around him, but the blast of air at the front was too great and I had to go back behind him again and settle for second'  I will put the times up later as I need to obtain the start times first!

Club, Waterfront Crit, Carrickfergus, Monday 11th June 2007. 

Well done to all those who took part and who helped in any way with the event!  Changes need to be made to the underage racing for next year!  It is much to difficult to manage two races taking place at the same time.  Perhaps an extra 20-minutes added to the programme would allow for single races and it would be much easier to mark the finishers in.  Any how this is one for our next meeting.

Result / points amended!  thanks to Simon for flagging it up!  It was Mel who was second Madigan in the (A) race and not Simon!

Club, Mountain Bike Cross Country Championship at Woodburn Forest, Wednesday 13th June 2007. 

Webb feet all round with the wet weather! Well done to the hardy soles who turned out on such a bad night.  Before we got started young David Neill sustained a cut knee in a fall, but he did not let this put him off and he completed his three laps, so well done to David for sticking it out!  The senior race was tight, only 33 seconds between Jonny and Simon and Steven was 1.14 behind Jonny. 

Club, 25-mile Time Trial at Oldwood Road / A26 Antrim. 20 June 2007.

Hey, that was a good first 25TT for Matthew Hagan and on a hard night too!  Big Simon, Mel and Albert still beating out the pace, and Jonny Cole what a super time for an under 16.  Well done to everyone!  See Hanna's pics on photo album!

Club, 18-mile handicap road race, A2 Larne Road Kilroot and finishing on Bellahill, Wednesday 27th June 2007. Group 2 were handicapped by 1 minute. 

Big Simon holds off Mel by half a wheel to take the win.  Gary McDermott finished only 6 seconds behind in third spot.  However the rides of the night must go to Richard Alexander (under16) and new club member Matthew Hagan (19) in his first road race!  Richard held off Matthew and Gary Johnston to take 4th spot, while Matthew took 5th and Gary 6th all at 37 seconds behind Simon.  Tight enough!  Well done everyone!

Club, 18-mile Handicap Pursuit, Kilroot, Wednesday 4th July 2007.

Well done Simon! it was a tight one with the first 5 coming in together.  Young David did really well.  Bad luck for Jonny Cole with that puncture, but even so still a good lap time!  It was a hard night with the strong head wind out to Glynn, but sure that's what helps bring you on!

 Club, MTB Time Trial Championships, Woodburn Crossroads, Wednesday 8th August 2007.
Congratulations on winning the trophy Stephen!  Well to done everyone!  This is a tough race!

Please note: when I got home I realised the result had to be corrected from what you were shown at the finish, this was because I wrongly gave the result based on Actual Time, it should have been on the finishing order crossing the line! (riders were handicapped by time at the start)!  I apologise for this error!  Below is the correct result!

Congratulations Mel, Simon and Albert on winning the 'First Team' medals!  Backed up by Jonny and Coiln, and supported by Ronnie and Karolyn! a super team effort, well done!

Club, Handicap Road Race Trophy, Ballyfore Road, Wednesday 15th August 2007.

Handicapping: Group 1 @ 0.  G2 @ 3.00.  G3 @ 3.30.  G4 @ 4.30.

Congratulations David! and well done Richard and Mark.  Taking full advantage of their handicap allowance the 3 under 16s worked very hard as a unit to keep clear, although the senior groups were eating into their lead lap on lap.  Brave Heart Jonny Cole (under16 strongman) was on a mission going clear from his group 3, catching group 2, and then went off in pursuit of group 1.  So strong was the wind he was unable to make up ground on the front 3 who have learned their trade working in windy conditions, but never the less Jonny tried hard!  He still had enough in the tank to take on Matthew Hagan in a superb battle for 4th place and just nicked it by a whisker from Matthew who is now showing good form.  Gary McDermott lead in the chasing pack at 1.17 down, the scratch men having taken 3 minutes and 13 seconds of their handicap of 4.30.  So everyone was working hard!  Well done to everyone for taking part in the race and helping in any way with the race! 

Club, 10TT Trophy, Ballynure/Millbrook course, Wednesday 22nd August 2007.

Congratulations on winning the 10TT Handicap Cup Richard! you improved by 1 minute29 seconds!  Bad luck David!  you improved by 1 minute 5 seconds!  It was very close.  Jonny Cole had a superb time once again, as did Mark!  It is great to see the young lads doing so well.  Well done to Mel and Simon and to everyone for taking part!

 Club, John Lindsay Memorial 10 TT Handicap Trophy, Ballynure / Millbrook course, Wednesday 29th August 2007.

Improving his PB by 1.07 Richard Alexander wins the John Lindsay Trophy to accompany the Club 10TT Cup he won last week!  Very well done Richard!  David Neill was the next closest - bad luck David!  It was a hard night with the strong breeze blowing across the course, but 21.31 PB (last Thursday) Jonny Cole battered on through it to finish 3rd fastest behind Simon Stockton (who also set a new PB last Thursday night 20.56, congratulations to Jonny and Simon)! Mel McCann was 2nd fastest on the night, well done Mel.  Everyone scene their time going backwards due to the conditions, only Richard set a PB, but well done to all the riders for their effort! 

Thanks to Ronnie for Time Keeping throughout the season!
